Artificial life maintenance

International Private Medical Insurance policies typically do not cover the cost of artificial life maintenance, which refers to the use of medical technology to prolong the life of an individual whose vital functions are sustained by artificial means. This may include, but is not limited to, the use of mechanical ventilators, dialysis machines, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) systems. The cost of these treatments can be extremely high and is often not deemed medically necessary by insurers.
