Treatment outside the geographical area of cover

Medical treatment outside of the geographical area specified in your insurance policy is typically not covered, unless your policy includes out-of-area emergency and accident coverage and you are on a temporary trip. It is important to always contact your insurer if you require treatment, especially if you experience an accident or emergency while traveling outside of your area of coverage. If your policy does not include out-of-area coverage, it is highly recommended to purchase an annual travel policy or at least a single-trip medical travel policy to protect yourself from costly medical bills while traveling.
