FAQs

What’s the difference between international health insurance and travel insurance?

International Private Medical Insurance (IPMI) is annual, renewable cover for residents and long stays. Travel insurance is short-term, trip-based, and usually has lower medical limits. If you’re relocating or living abroad, choose IPMI. See also: travel insurance.

Will pre-existing conditions be covered?

It depends on underwriting (moratorium vs. full medical) and the insurer’s rules. Some conditions may be excluded or require waiting periods. Start here: pre-existing conditions.

How do deductibles and co-pays affect price?

Higher deductibles and co-pays generally reduce premiums but increase what you pay when you claim. Choose a level you can afford. Learn more: deductible and co-payment.

Can I use any hospital?

Most insurers prefer network hospitals for direct billing. You can often use non-network facilities, but you may need to pay upfront and claim back later. See: find a hospital.
